You have reached the section of the One Over 99 Ministries web site which contains what we call "Hills to die on". We will go there and fight for what we believe, which is biblical truth, and we are not afraid to die fighting for it.
Though these hills are pretty obvious for us to see, they are not as easily understood by those who oppose or to those who are new to the Christian faith. To us, those who oppose, oppose truth. Of course we all feel strongly about something we believe in. You, me, and the next guy. However, we at One Over 99 do not simply defend our favorite team or town. We defend the truth. Biblical truth, and we use the Bible as our sword while we defend it (Eph 6:11-20). By the grace of God we have biblical discernment and have all been blessed in the form of great men of faith who lived long before us, and who have made the possibility of understanding the truth readily available. Men like Luther, Calvin, Spurgeon, died to self and lived for truth, daily. From early church history and continuing through today, there are men and women of God who have died to further the gospel and the truth from God. Every Apostle, author of scripture, and every martyr you have ever heard of, has died for the gospel. Every evangelist, including me, who has gone into a dangerous situation to share the gospel of the Savior understands fully what it means to have a "hill to die on".
As I write this content for this site, a good friend and fellow evangelist of mine named John Schaffer is in China trying to smuggle Bibles to those people who are starved for the Word of truth. John could easily lose his life as he faces danger around every turn. Jesus said, "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.". (Luke 9:23-24) My friend John knows exactly what it means to have "a hill to die on". Every one of us who evangelize do.
We understand that God gave every man a mind to think, which includes an imagination that has no fences or boundries. But the Bible tells us that the heart of man is deceteful and desperately wicked (Jer 17:8 KJV). So, before you can convince us of error, you must first demonstrate that you understand what we say.
In the words of John Calvin, "A dog barks when his master is attacked. I would be a coward if I saw that God's truth is attacked and yet would remain silent." And of course, "For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels." - Jesus (Mark 8:38)
Sounds pretty rudimentary, doesn't it? Defending the gospel is biblical. Defending biblical truth is more than an ingredient for the staunch apologists. It is, and should be, a part of every Bible believing Christian who has ever said "Jesus died for me".
We hope you are blessed with discernment as you read the "Hills To Die On", and we pray that you learn biblical truth if you do not already have it. If you do not believe that having a solid understanding of sound doctrine is a hill to die on, then what is?
